Kerstovo (Vaivara subcamp)
SubcampPiiriala (Venemaa)1943–1944
Kerstovo was a Nazi German concentration-camp subcamp whose location is disputed in the sources (the Estonian study places Kerstova/Putki in Viru County, others in the border area of present-day Russia), part of the Vaivara system (1943–1944).
Forced labour and fate
Most of the prisoners were Jews brought from the Vilna and Kovno ghettos; they were forced to work in forced labour. In 1944 the camp was liquidated together with the whole Vaivara system; survivors were taken to the Stutthof concentration camp or killed.
