About us

Eesti tatarlased is a community platform for language preservation and heritage. Our aim is to preserve and revive the Mišär Tatar language as spoken by the historical Estonian Tatar community, and to keep alive the community's history, faith and memory.

We:

• gather and share a dictionary, texts and knowledge of the Estonian Tatars' language and history;

• write sourced encyclopedic articles, always marking clearly what is attested by the community and what is not yet confirmed;

• use the Estonian Tatar alphabet and value the community's own form of the language;

• do this non-commercially and free of charge, for the good of the community.

The platform does not replace the living community or a native speaker — it is a tool that helps carry the language and memory forward.
