The Siselinna military cemetery

The military section of Tallinn's Siselinna (Inner City) cemetery is a burial ground for soldiers. During the occupation it was desecrated and the traces of foreign military remembrance were erased.

War graves under the occupation

Estonian soldiers were buried at Siselinna, as were foreign war graves, including British war graves of the First and Second World Wars. During the occupation the memorial markers of the British war graves were removed — the occupation authorities did not tolerate the commemoration of foreign servicemen. Some graves disappeared beneath new burials.
