The formation map: from the Khazars to Tallinn
This map shows in one picture how the Estonian Tatar people took shape — built from this knowledge base's own articles. The violet points are the deep-history states on the Volga: the Khazar Khaganate, Volga Bulgaria, the Kipchak Steppe and the Golden Horde. The amber points are the Mišär formation lands in Meshchera: the Temnikov Principality, the Qasim Khanate and the villages of the Sergach country, the home of the Estonian and Finnish Tatars' ancestors.
The blue line is the 19th-century itinerant merchants' road: after the abolition of serfdom it led from the Nizhny Novgorod governorate through Saint Petersburg to Narva and Tallinn. The grey line is the 1943–1944 road of exile over Finland to Sweden (see the Estonian Tatar Finnish Boys and the Turk-Islamic Association in Sweden). Every point opens on click and leads to its article; the full picture in time is given by the timeline of the Estonian Tatars.
